| Brazil Adjusts Evaluating Method on Imported Toys |

According to media coverage from Pakistan, Brazil customs has adjusted its evaluating method on imported plastic toys from China, UAE and Far East countries. It is known from customs that, in order to enhance the levy of import tariff, the new provision is based on raw materials price and production cost besides freight.
Imported toys have been divided into 204 categories by customs. Tariff ranges between 2.5 USD/kg to 15 USD/kg and common low-end toys see tariff of 2.5 USD/kg. Action figures, animal toys, small cars are imposed tax of 3 USD/kg, while electrical toys are 3.5 to 4.5 USD/kg. Video toys are levied by highest rate of tariff.
Toy importers of Pakistan consider the new evaluation method unfair. Tariff for toys of a 40-feet container (10,000 kg) is increased to 2 million Rupee from 300,000 Ruppe. It will boost up toy price in local market. █
