In order to optimize the structure of China’s export products, restrain the export of products with low added value and technology content, promote the transformation and upgrade of processing trade and realize the transition of the increasing way of foreign trade, Ministry of Commerce associates with General Administration of Customs to announce 2007 No.110 announcement, in which a new catalogue of prohibited type of processing trade is released, covering 589 10-digit custom code products.

The catalogue refers to animal products, plant products, animal and vegetable oils and fats, food, beverages, mineral products, chemical products, plastic and related products, iron and steel and related products, aluminum products, etc. Some products that contain components of endangered animals and plants are also prohibited, including: leather products, animal hair and fabric, shoes, jewelry products, glasses, watches and miscellaneous manufactured articles.

The regulating emphasis of this catalogue on prohibited type is to optimize the structure of export products and has done proper schedule in terms of transition period. As a whole, it will exert active effect in aspects of promoting the enterprises develop to higher technology content and bigger value-added sector, driving the transformation and upgrade of processing trade and realizing sustained and healthy development of processing trade.
