Mattel has made another acquisition, acquiring the rights to manufacture, distribute and market several games from US firm Out of the Box Publishing. The titles include the award-wining Apples to Apples, Snorta and Blink.
“Out of the Box Publishing has established a great foundation for success, particularly with Apples to Apples,“ commented Tim Kilpin, general manager/SVP, Mattel Brands. “And much like our own UNO brand, the games we have acquired are easy to understand, family-oriented, and most of all, fun to play. Our strengths in areas like international distribution and brand management should allow us to build upon the strong momentum Out of the Box Publishing already established.”
Apples to Apples has sold more than three million units since its launch in 1998, and recently earned the 2006 US Toy of the Year award for “Game of the Year”.
The game is currently distributed in the UK by David Westnedge, who said : “Apples to Apples has helped us to spearhead our expansion into the Family Fun games market, and the takeover of certain Out of the Box games will no affect delivery of our titles this year. We will continue to offer a next day delivery service of our entire range of published titles up to Christmas and beyond.” |
