On the conference of safety and quality control on global foods held in Beijing, Li Changjiang, director General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) notes that, kids will receive safe China’s toys this Christmas.
When interviewed by media, he promises that, the problem of excessive lead in paint used in toys made in China will be solved before this Christmas.
According to Associated Press, Li says, “Before Christmas, we will definitely give kids safer, better and more attractive toys”. As to the definition of lead in paint used for toys, Li says related officials in China and the U.S. are starting on eliminating differences in opinion. A conventional international standard is paint on surface of toy is restricted to less than 90mg/kg, while the U.S.’s standard is 600mg/kg, Li adds. However, the latter covers all composing parts of toys, instead of surface paint only. Therefore, it is a stricter standard. |
